It seems that the main development of the 7th round of Russian Team Championship was a huge loss of the favorite “Tomsk-400” (Tomsk) to the one of the tournament’s leaders ”TPS-Saransk” (Saransk). Chessplayers of ”Tomsk-400” have lost 5 out of 6 possible games, and only the game between Sergey Karjakin (”Tomsk-400” — Ukraine, 2732) and Konstantin Sakaev (”TPS-Saransk” — Russia, 2649) has ended in a draw. After such an overwhelming defeat ”Tomsk-400” has practically no chances for higher places and the team has to fight for a place in the middle of the standings. The second match by results was played between “Economist-SGSEU-1” (Saratov) and “Southern Ural” (Chelyabinsk), where “Economist-SGSEU-1” has won a clear-cut victory. After a clear-cut victory over “Polytechnik” (Nizhny Tagil) in the previous round “Southern Ural” chessplayers could not show anything in a game with a stronger competitor. Igor Kurnosov (“Southern Ural” — Russia, 2593), Evgeny Sveshnikov (“Southern Ural” — Russia, 2506) and Evgeny Romanov (“Southern Ural” — Russia, 2547) were weaker in games with Michael Roiz (“Economist-SGSEU-1” — Israel, 2659), Alexander Moiseenko (“Economist-SGSEU-1” — Ukraine, 2650) and Alexander Galkin (“Economist-SGSEU-1” — Russia, 2606) respectively. In a match “FINEK-GazPromBank” (St. Petersburg) — “Economist-SGSEU-2” the resultative game was that between Sergei Movsesian (“FINEK-GazPromBank” — Slovak Republic, 2695) and Alexander Evdokimov (“Economist-SGSEU-2” — Russia, 2551), as well as the game between Nikita Vitiugov (”FINEK-GazPromBank” — Russia, 2617) and Sergej Dyachkov (“Economist-SGSEU-2” — Russia, 2566). White have won in both games. In a match between ”ShSM” from Moscow and ”Polytechnik” from Nizhny Tagil the Moscovities were tougher. Karen Asrian (”ShSM” — Armenia, 2630) and Boris Savchenko (”ShSM” — Russia, 2569) have won over Alexander Areshchenko (”Polytechnik” — Ukraine, 2650) and Pavel Maletin (”Polytechnik” — Russia, 2574) respectively. Moreover, black have won in the second game. In a Moscow Derby between “Spasio Swiss” and “64” the first team has won. In the 7th round the victory was celebrated in ”Spasio-Swiss” team by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (”Spasio-Swiss” — Azerbaijan, 2752) and Denis Khismatullin (”Spasio-Swiss” — Russia, 2584), who have beaten Ian Nepomniachtchi (“64” — Russia, 2643) and Maxim Rodshtein (“64” — Israel, 2626) respectively. The leader of the championship ”Ural” from Ekaterinburg was meeting “Shatar-Metropol” from Ulan-Ude. In a principal standoff between the two teams a battling draw was recorded. The match was rich in results as the whole round though. Gata Kamsky (“Ural” — USA, 2726) and Alexander Grischuk (“Ural” — Russia, 2716) from “Ural” team have won their games over Kamil Miton (“Shatar-Metropol” — Poland, 2620) and Anton Shomoev (“Shatar-Metropol” — Russia, 2559) respectively. “Shatar-Metropol” took its points on the last boards, where Farrukh Amonatov (“Shatar-Metropol” — Tajikistan, 2649) and Alexander Lastin (“Shatar-Metropol” — Russia, 2621) have beaten Alexey Dreev (“Ural” — Russia, 2657) and Alexander Motylev (“Ural” — Russia, 2666) respectively. Standings of the 7th round: “Spasio Swiss” (Moscow) — “64” (Moscow) — 4:2 ”Economist-SGSEU-2” (Saratov) — “FINEK-GazPromBank” (St. Petersburg) — 2:4 ”Tomsk-400” (Tomsk) — “TPS-Saransk” (Saransk) — 0.5:5.5 ”Polytechnik” (Nizhny Tagil) — “ShSM” (Moscow) — 2:4 ”Economist-SGSEU-2” (Saratov) — “Southern Ural” (Chelyabinsk) — 4.5:1.5 ”Ural” (Ekaterinburg) — “Shatar-Metropol” (Ulan-Ude) — 3:3 Before the 8th round the standings look like this: 1st place — “Ural”, 11 team points; 2nd-4th places — “FINEK-GazPromBank”, “Economist-SGSEU-1”, “TPS-Saransk”, 10 points; 5th place — “Shatar-Metropol”, 9 points; 6th place — “ShSM”, 8 points; 7-8th places — “Spasio Swiss”, “64”, 7 points; 9th place — “Tomsk-400”, 4 points; 10-11th places — “Polytechnik”, “Economist-SGSEU-2”, 3 points; 12th place — “Southern Ural”, 2 points.
