WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkins absence added to the Washington Capitals offensive woes and the Ottawa Senators were only too glad to take advantage. Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse Sale . Kyle Turris and Jason Spezza scored, Craig Anderson made 34 saves and the Senators beat the Capitals 2-0 Tuesday night to hand Washington its sixth straight loss. With NHL scoring leader Ovechkin out with an unspecified lower-body injury, Washington failed to convert on five power plays. During their six-game skid, the Capitals have scored just seven goals, three of them by Ovechkin. "Yeah, hes absolutely a dangerous goal scorer, leading our team and leading the league in goals," Washingtons Troy Brouwer said. "Wed love to have him out there, but we dont have him right now. Even when he was in the lineup the last few games we still havent been scoring goals." In Ovechkins absence, some of Washingtons other offensive threats were silent. Nicklas Backstrom and Mikhail Grabovski had one shot each. Defenceman John Carlson whiffed on a promising slap shot, fired high on another and was stymied by Anderson on a breakaway. "Their goalie played well, but we had a lot of guys with some really good looks, good chances," Washington coach Adam Oates said. "We have to score some goals. I would say the chances were good chances tonight, and we had a lot of them. It is a matter of finishing." It was the 12th loss in the last 15 games for the Capitals, while Ottawa improved to 7-1-2 in its last 10 games to vault Washington in the Eastern Conference standings. Turris scored his 15th of the year with just over 7 minutes left in the second period when he converted on a rush down the right side. Spezza scored his 13th goal on a power play midway through the third period, rifling a wrist shot from the left wing that went just inside the near post and past Capitals goalie Braden Holtby, who finished with 24 saves in first start since Jan. 4. As they tried to rally, the Capitals didnt get their customary boost from their fans. The Verizon Center, which regularly sells out, was less than half full because of a snowstorm that closed schools and shut down the government Tuesday. "Its a building where they are notorious for coming back and getting momentum," Spezza said. "So to get the two-goal lead lets us play a little different style and with a little more confidence. I thought we played better with the lead tonight in general." It was the 32-year-old Andersons third shutout this year and 25th in his career. He was at his best in the third period when he sprawled for a save to help the Senators kill a penalty and later kicked away a drive by Marcus Johansson. "We played really well for 60 minutes," Anderson said. "From the start of the game to the end of the game we did things we were supposed to do." Washingtons frustration appeared to spill over late in the game when Grabovski received a 10-minute misconduct penalty during a tussle with Zack Smith. "I want the guys to compete and be frustrated," Oates said. "But you cant live in the penalty box. Were not doing a good enough job killing penalties. So that doesnt make sense, either. But I want them to fight for everything we can." NOTES: The Capitals recalled Nate Schmidt to fortify the defence after Steve Oleksy was sent to Hershey and John Erskine sustained an upper-body injury. Schmidt, 22, opened the year in Washington, totalling six points in 28 games. ... The move came a day after Washington sent goalie Philipp Grubauer back to Hershey. The rookie had been pulled from his previous two starts. ... The Capitals play their next five games on the road. Nike Air Max 95 Sale Uk .com) - Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer were easy first-round winners Tuesday at the Australian Open. Nike Air Max 90 Mens Trainers . Howard Ganz, an MLB lawyer, said in a letter to U.S. District Judge Edgardo Ramos that Rodriguezs claims do not come "remotely close" to what is needed to overturn an arbitration decision in federal court. . -- In a span of seven Washington Redskins offensive plays, Justin Tuck sacked Robert Griffin III four times.EDMONTON -- Jesse Joensuu was one of the least heralded free-agent signings the Edmonton Oilers made this summer, but he is starting to make a name for himself now. The 25-year-old Finnish forward scored his third goal of the pre-season and was named the games first star as the Edmonton Oilers won their third consecutive game, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Monday night. After bouncing back and forth between the New York Islanders and their American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport Sound over a four-year period, Joensuu went back to Europe and played in the Swedish Elite League during the 2011-2012 season and rediscovered his game. A sports hernia limited Joensuu to just seven games in his return to the Islanders last season before he opted to sign on with Edmonton. It has been a long road for the six-foot-four, 210-pound winger, but he feels he is finally poised to make his mark on a regular basis at the NHL level. "Im just really happy that I have been able to compete with everyone at the same level and that I am not hurt," said Joensuu, who has four points in four exhibition outings. "Compared to my previous training camps with the Islanders, this is like night and day. I feel like I belong and am competing at the same level as the guys I want to play with. Before I was just trying to survive and didnt feel comfortable at all." Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins said that Joensuu has made a very good case for himself to this point. "He has played nothing but well for me," said Eakins. "We need that size and he brings that. He protects the puck well and is strong on his stick. He made some big plays on the boards in our zone in this game and those are critical plays. Everybody likes the flash of a nice pass or a big hit, but you win the game along the wall just inside the blue-line. ... "The other thing I like is that he is vocal on the bench. You dont get that a lot sometimes from the European guys. He is vocal and into the game, which is another tthing we value here. Nike Roshe Run Women Sale. " Will Acton also scored for the Oilers (4-1-1), who did not dress many of their top offensive threats for the game. Chris Thorburn replied for the Jets (1-3-2), who have lost three straight in exhibition play. It took a while for either team to get on the board in a penalty-filled first period. The Jets finally started the scoring with just under a minute remaining as a Thorburn shot that appeared to be going wide hit the stick of Oilers starter Devan Dubnyk and deflected into the net. Edmonton tied the game just under three minutes into the second period when Tyler Pitlick put the puck in front of the net for a hard-charging Joensuu to direct past Jets goalie Edward Pasquale. It was Joensuus third goal of the pre-season. The Oilers went up 2-1 midway through the second period, when Acton deflected an Anton Belov point shot through Pasquales legs. Dubnyk made up for his gaffe earlier in the game with a five-alarm glove save on Olli Jokinen late in the second on a Winnipeg power play. There was no scoring in the third period. The Oilers play again tomorrow at home to the New York Rangers. The Jets are off until Thursday when they will welcome the Boston Bruins. Notes: It was the second pre-season meeting between the two teams. The Jets won the first match-up 3-2 on Sept. 18. ... The Jets were making their first visit to Rexall Place since March 1996. The Oilers and Jets will face off to start the regular season on Oct. 1 in Edmonton. ... After being roughed up in their last game against the Vancouver Canucks, resulting in a broken jaw and several missing teeth to centre Sam Gagner, the Oilers added some toughness in the form of Steve McIntyre on Monday. McIntyre, who will be joining the Oil for the third time in his career, was picked up off of waivers from Pittsburgh. ...
